K Can Gateway and RNS510 LED
« on: October 11, 2010, 11:26:50 am »
Does anyone have a RNS510 LED version with original VW Firmware of 2680 or higher working with a K CAN Gateway (1K0907530K) withouth any battery drain issues?

I know the official word is to upgrade to the L version but I have read some posts on here where it has been fine with a K.

From the research I have done you should be OK - I actually fitted an RCD 510 a few weeks back to my 07 Edition 30 (K CAN Gateway) and haven't had any battery drain yet.

I couldn't find anyone who'd fitted an RCD 510 (to a car with a K CAN gateway) but came across plenty of people who'd fitted an RNS 510 with a K CAN gateway and they too hadn't had any problems with battery drain. I'll have a dig now to see if I can find the threads I started on the subject...

Here you are:

I'm sure other people will post to confirm you should be OK with your current gateway

I have no idea what revision my CAN gateway is but it's the original one (mine's an 05 plate) and I have fitted an RCD510 without any battery drain  :happy2:

I have a K revision gateway and have fitted an RCD-510. Not sure if I'm getting battery issues or not, as the car is used almost every day, BUT it does appear to turn over longer when starting the engine recently and there is an error reported on VCDS about the gateway and 'infotainment' not getting on. I'm gonna change mine just to be on the safe side.

The latest revised part number is 1K0907530AD.  Fitting one to the vRS last week after fitting the Bolero (skodas RCD510) and getting battery drain.

I fitted a RCD 510 back in January this year and have a K can gateway. I have had no problems, even when the car has been not driven for a couple of weeks.
When the car went in for some warranty work they updated the CANBUS firmware to the latest version.
Bye Bye Edition 30.
