Which small aerial?
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:31:19 am »
Morning chaps,

I hope you all had a nice weekend.

I'm wanting to swap the 54 ft standard aerial on my car.

It can be seen below protruding through the roof:

I'm sure i've read about citroen aerials or something similar?

Please advise

Nick :jumpmove:

VW Sharan Stubby aerial  :happy2:  About £9 on eBay.

They look great and there is no loss of reception.

Does it sit flush with the base?

Great question Kevin.
Well I must admit, when I screwed it in to the base, it was a little long and didn't screw all the way down.  :ashamed:
All I had to do was cut 2/3 threads off the screw with a junior hacksaw. Took about 30 secs.

Then, yes it does sit flush.

I will try and find a better picture.

Cheers thanks monte :happy2:

I bought a cheap stubbie for my mk4 years ago and the fit and reception was crap. Have always stuck with oem aerials since. Might give this a try.

the VW part number is 7M0 035 849 E.

Can't recall which specific one but I bought a citroen one a year ago. No problems with it in terms of reception.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
