Upgrade From Hertz DSK 165? >

Been using the Hertz DSK 165's for around 6 months. They're good speakers and were excellent for the price (£90 delivered).

I'm simply now looking to progress the sound to that next step, with the kind of built in woofers that can offer low-mid range bass that a small subwoofer would.
Will I be able to achieve this with a set of component speakers in the front with the appropriate surrounding + materials?

Budget is probably around £350. Can I have myself a tasty set for this price?
A recommended upgrade path would be perfect please

Can always step up to the Hertz HSK 163 (if you want 3 way components) otherwise go to HSK 165/xl.
You will be very happy with that upgrade.

Otherwise go all out with a 3 way front stage with preferably a 8" mid. Along the lines of Hybrid Audio Legatia 831 or 841.
But expect to pay far more than you have on your current speakers.

IF you want to have the low-mid region far more than currently.
Try sound deadening the doors and try some Dynaxorb behind the mids.

But otherwise I would recommend using small 8" or 10" sub. ie. Image Dynamics ID8 or ID10. Will fill the bottom in nicely. With a super compact box size.
And complete your sound.

I was looking at spending the left over budget on some good door deadening so I can get the best feedback from the built in woofers.
Will the low/mid range bass on either the ESK or HSK's be comparable to a small (8inch) sub woofer?

Also, should I amp my components? I've got my Kenwood 1800watt mono amp sat on my shelf, is it going to help the sound here if I included it?

bad news is I have been trying to track done a Set of HSK163's.
Cannot seem to find them, So your option will have to be the next progression.

But to answer your question. You get a far better midbass driver. So better kick in the front, always a bonus.
The Mid is made better including better materials. It has a smoother sound including a wider range to be able to play.
The tweeter are there 20mm Tweeter. Suppose to be one of the nicest laid back tweeters around.

Additional Note the HSK mid is smaller than the ESK series. So you will be able to fit them in your doors no problems.

I know of many people that have gone from the HSK163 to the Mille, But they end up wanting to go back to the HSK's.
So that has got to add for something, right?

These are only observations I have made and info I have gather inregards to these speaker options.
As we don't have Hertz available over here where I am. I do alot of research and read reviews with songs I know.
Compare to what I have been running in the past.

So Personally I cannot offer to you how your choice would sound.

How about sound deaden your doors, after that if you still feel like getting more from your system. Then get the next level up of speakers.
