is this not the biggest waste of time / money / room in your tool chest ? you are going to be drain the sump anyway and replacing the filter .

I think the original tool is made by Matra.

ECS have a copy of it - http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_V--2.0T/Tools/Maintenance_Tools/ES8616/
Actually, that web site says it's made by Schwaben, and the flash image also shows Schwaben.  Not cheap though!

It would also be worth ordering one of their 6 point sockets too - http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_V--2.0T/ES240945/
I'm sure you could get one cheaper this side of the pond.

The ECS parts are manufactured by http://www.schwabentools.com/ who sell via ECS or http://www.pelicanparts.com/index.htm
Hmmmmm . . . I don't actually think these Schwaben are actually OEM tools!  And there are some major errors on that Pelican website.

LOL.

It is actually quite a good tool - it stops hot oil from pi$$ing all over your after-run electric coolant pump.

If you slow down to a gallop Sean you might have read it as it was intended.

Matra manufacture the OEM tool as I said above.  Matra manufacture a large number of the OEM tools along with Hazet and others.

I linked to the ECS tool which is manufactured by Schwaben and stated in my post 'ECS have a copy of it'.

I later went on to say that ECS and Pelican Parts supply the Schwaben range, I certainly didn't say they were OEM tools.

A very comprehensive supplier of the OEM tools is here -

Stu - yesterday was a long!  I just re-read your post, and noticed the error of my ways! :ashamed:

Anyway, that Schwaben one looks much better than that all plastic version - but there is a notable cost difference too.

Does anyone know of any UK or EU independent suppliers?

Hmm, didn't see that bit, but after looking at their Ebay listing's an option to ship to the UK is there.

Last ones sold on Ebay went for $42. Shipping to UK for just one is $13.

I have mailed them to see what they would do five for.

Still waiting on a reply from supplier.

If it's acceptable and we could get the number's, then it could be a goer!!!

I am in for the GB as long as we can get a good price  :happy2:

Do they supply a 36mm socket as well?  It would be useful to get both if possible...
