Just had a reply back from Fred re these Oil Drain Tool's.

He would sell 5 for $32 each plus $30 for shipping to 1 address.  He say's they may have some very minor cosmetic damage but in no way effect functionality.

So, £190 all in for 5 tool's delivered to one UK address, then plus postage this side on to individuals (will have to look into this additionl cost)

The 36mm Socket with 1/2" Drive to release the filter housing's are an additional $10 each, but would be included in the original postage charge from the State's.  Obviously it would probably increase postage cost's at this ed onto yourselves.

Is'nt the exchange rate roughly $1.5 to the £ currently???  This would put these tool's at £25.33 each inc shipping from the States (plus postal this side.)

Unless my Math is wrong lol, which it quite possibly could be  :signLOL:

What do you think guy's?  Obviously could do with another party to take a fifth tool to save my expenditure.

Also, how could/would this work? Never sorted anything like this before, so a little unsure how to take payments from yourselves etc

Also, I suppose price is likely to change a little due to exchange rates, ie, I'm not sure how much a Credit Card Company would charge me in the exchange.

Credit cards usually charge 2.75% conversion on foreign currencies.

You'd also need to factor in import duties payable to HMRC.

Oh, the socket would be better in 3/8" square drive - there must be loads of different UK stockists for these.

Good work though! :happy2:

Thanks Sean, never thought of the Banks extra charges etc.

Is the import duty a % of total cost's etc?

It's a mine field aint it  :signLOL:

Re the socket drive size, my tool box only consist's of 1/2" Drive stuff, so it would suit me  :happy2:

I've no idea on the actual import duty costs.  Surely someone on here must know.  Although I am aware there are methods of avoiding paying import duty - something along the line of it being a gift, and also if it's below something like £150.

Reason I recommend 3/8 drive is simply that 1/2 in drive torque wrenches don't go low enough - 25Nm.  You usually need a smaller 3/8 drive torque wrench to get that low.  But if need be, you can get a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter.

UK source for a 36mm 1/2" sd dr socket - £10.41 +vat, professional quality (better than Snap-On ), from www.Cromwell.co.uk (46 branches throughout the UK) - catalogue number KEN-582-7150K.  Page 1060 of their 2010 catalogue.

Hang on guy's, price may of changed a bit.  Heard back from Fred and he now say's to ship them all in one box would be $55 plus I'd have to pay VAT

BUT I think he may also be able to send for $30 per tool plus $14 Shipping plus $10 per Socket if you require one(they would be marked up as a value of $15, so no VAT on top) each.  Also I have asked if he would then send to the individuals address also if each individual could pay him directly. I await a reply.

So, as a rough calculation each tool would work out at approx £30 each inc delivery to your address. Plus a 36mm Socket if you would like one.

As I say, I await a reply with confirmation.

So do you mean he will charge you vat or you will have to pay vat when it comes through customs?  He cant charge you vat as the US isnt in the EU.

Im fine with the individual shipping.  Makes it easier to pay them direct rather than through one of us.

No, I mean if he were to send them in one big box, then I would have to pay import tax on top once it arrived.

If he would do it, I think the best way would be each of us pay him directly, then he ships direct to us.

If so, are you all still happy with the price?

We need another one to make up the five.

OK guy's, we are at the final hurdle  :signLOL:

Fred will do a Drain Tool including shipping to each individuals address for $44 plus if you want a 36mm Socket, this would just be an additional $10. It will fit in the same envelope and be covered under the same postal charge.

Result eh?

Only problem now is, this is based on five people  :sad1:  Once he has payment (to his Paypal account of which I have just asked for the details of) he will ship them out. I think it would be just a matter of sending payment with a little note of what it's for along with your postal details.

So, it's approximately £30 for one of these OE (looking) Drain Tool's delivered to your door.  Anyone else like to take one to get this off the ground?

Cheers

Rich
