Can anybody help.....
« on: October 20, 2010, 11:06:04 am »
Just posted this on R32OC.....

''Hi, just got a mk4 R32 last week and there's a few electrical issues........

The heated seats only work ever so often, and keep's blowing a 15amp fuse.

Ive tried a 20amp fuse but nothing happens (doesnt blow and never works) also the cigerette lighter only works when the seats are working, so i push the lighter in, and it doesnt pop out for a few days, then when i hear it pop out my seats start to get warm (so i know its all working) it seems like a loose connection somewhere but not sure where, i wouldnt have thought the seats and lighter were connected in anyway as they are on different fuses,

maybe a dumb question but can anybody help please. ''

Not sure if anybody knows on here but its bugging me!

Joe, get him to thoroughly inspect the wiring under the front seats.  I bet a wire has some chaffed insulation which is catching on the seat frame - common problem.  Does he need to move the seat a lot (ie, 6 foot bloke and 5 foot SWMBO)?

And the reason the ciggy lighter is intermittant is prolly cause it is on the same fuse circuit.

HTH, and keep us updated. - Or you could even post the linky on R32OC - so we can avoid the 'middle-man'!  :P
