stage 1 revo to stage 2+ revo
« on: October 24, 2010, 08:37:52 pm »
Looking at taking the plunge from stage 1 revo to stage 2+, just wondering if its a big noticable difference? worth it, or not really?
(3" dpipe & sport cat, twintake) but no hpfp "yet".

Any feedback and experiences would be good.

Cheers

the pump is a big part of the performance difference then?

You can't go stage 2+ without the pump as the standard pump won't flow the requested 130 bar (standard is limited to 115bar)

You will certainly notice the difference :happy2:

+going from stage 1 to stage 2+ will be immense.  your looking at pretty much a 30-40Hp and 30-40Ibft gain across pretty much the entire usable rev range.

As far as I've been advised its the map that gives you that extra mid range although you need the pump to get the map if that makes sense. I had the pump fitted and went from stage 1 to 2 (not 2+ plus) and didn;t get a big or and real noticable increase in mid range. Although there was an improvement all thoughout the rev range.

I suppose if you get the 2+ you are more likely to get clutch slip and wheel spin?

....

stage 2 doesnt feel like it gives you that much more power really, just lets you hold power for longer thus smoothing the delivery out a bit giving the effect that its not that much different.  It is most definitely faster though as some timed in gear runs would show.  Stage 2+ really ups the midrange.  i wouldnt bother with stage 2 next time. id go straight to stage 2+.

You get more wheel spin with all the engine mods.  its simple physics.  you just drive the car differently.  Also yoyu need to look into chassis mods to harness that power.  my vRS didnt have any issues in the dry.  It was just the wet which aggrevated me. I never suffered from clutch slip at all in the 30000miles of being mapped and tracked frequently.

What remap have you got?  Revo request more fuel than other rmaps so fitting a HPFP alone yields gains without tweaking the map.  Bluefin doesnt request anywhere near the maximum rail pressure @ stage 1/2 so you very likely wouldnt notice the difference between oem or uprated without mapping

Sy,

Just making an observation about what brings the great mid range pull which you have confirmed is the 2+ map. I am stage 2 as a this gives a more linear power curve which I like.

Other resons for not going stage 2+ are that I have been told that typically a stage 2+ car will have more problems so don't want to tempt fate. Anyways I don't typically ride the wave of torque so that may help the longivetyly of the clutch as well.

whats clutch slip  :booty:  DSG   :pomppomp:

i thought the stage one jump was good...to get that again from a 2+ would be cool, although even with decent tyres the wheels still light up a fair bit.

Ive got a Revo map. Im more than pleased with them.

I've had stage 2+ for about 20k miles and not had any problems.

I did get clutch slip with stage 1 though so upgraded to sachs then.

As long as you don't pull heavy loads all the time you should get away with it on standard clutch.

Other than that I've had no problems but I don't do track days.
