Hmmmm . . . great idea, but it isn't working for me.
There are no icons for the keys below the post code search box, no push pins appearing. The map display does not refresh, especially after dragging it out of the current area. I think the Google maps is probably causing the issue - might be worth trying Bing maps. And I think a zoom bar ought to be included.
All the above is when using Windows 7 (which is ) with Firefox 3.6.10.
However, on the same Win7 machine but with IE8 - it's perfect!
I just tried Firefox 3.6.10 and Windows XP (don't have 7 here but can try it at home later) and it all seemed fine. Just to check you don't have a javascript blocker (e.g noscript) installed do you? If not then I need to think again.
That went right over my head!
I'm a spanner swinger, not a 'puter geek! So how/where/why would I find those settings? Would that be a 'global' setting, say in the control panel, or sommat in FireFox? Help me help you!
Oh, can I suggest another category - Parts suppliers (for companies like VW Speed, OEMpl.us, Fischer Motorsport, etc)
That is a good idea but do we have somewhere to recommend these people? Also as someone who never buys parts I'm unsure if the location of these companies is important? Do you just order the parts and have them delivered to you or do you have to actually go there?
Well, maybe open it to discussion - but I personally think it would be useful. Yes, I agree that you may not personally 'visit' their premesis - but I thought the fundamental idea was about sharing recommendations. And reputable supplies of parts are very important to those who do their own spannering. Regarding their actual location on the map, I wouldn't say that should be a barrier (I'm sure the map would scroll to Germany and the US
) - a pinpoint containing their url should suffice. Maybe put in brackets under their key entry (under the postcode search box) that those in this category may be mail order only or internet only.
Discuss.
