Boot badge Impotancy problem
« on: October 26, 2010, 10:11:04 am »
Hello there,

I've recently descovered my rear boot opening mechanism will not reset to its original position by itself, once opened.

This is obviously not a major problem by a long shot, but it is abit annoying.

At first I thought it may be the cold weather, but after thinking back, I remember jetwashing the mechanism pretty ruthlessly, so perhaps that has had some negative effect?

Any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance  :happy2:

Remove the boot release handle - you will need to strip out the lower tailgate interior trim (full details found in my rather usefull thread in the technical section - 'Free Golf Mk5 workshop manuals').  Then spray some white grease into the pivots.

Thanks a bunch!

I'll get on it as soon as the weather clears up.

All the best  :happy2:
