Midland VW (21 Conduit Rd, Norton Canes, Cannock WS11 9TJ) - excellent for servicing and wheel alignment.

Thanks Stealthwolf, I've added to that to the map now.

Once SteveP gets some time to look at this, i am sure we can make it a sticky i the relevant section.  :happy2:

Went there until last week, been messed around twice by them now, had to struggle to get my car there, only to be told that Jodie had decided not to come in as he was messing with his motorbike for the day instead. Won't give them a third chance.

Go to VW Rescue in Wombourne now, off the Bridgenorth Road.

Not as nice inside, but far better service.

Central Audi VW are very good for diagnostics and repairs/service.
They are independent specialists and use same equipment as main dealers.

Immensely surprised mate. I emailed them about getting some work done on the car and they booked me in. Turned up, sorted me out. No problems. Quite a few on Golfgti.co.uk rate them too.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Hmmmm . . . great idea, but it isn't working for me.

There are no icons for the keys below the post code search box, no push pins appearing.  The map display does not refresh, especially after dragging it out of the current area.  I think the Google maps is probably causing the issue - might be worth trying Bing maps.  And I think a zoom bar ought to be included.

All the above is when using Windows 7 (which is ) with Firefox 3.6.10.

However, on the same Win7 machine but with IE8 - it's perfect! :happy2:

Oh, can I suggest another category - Parts suppliers (for companies like VW Speed, OEMpl.us, Fischer Motorsport, etc)

I just tried Firefox 3.6.10 and Windows XP (don't have 7 here but can try it at home later) and it all seemed fine.  Just to check you don't have a javascript blocker (e.g noscript) installed do you? If not then  I need to think again.

That is a good idea but do we have somewhere to recommend these people?  Also as someone who never buys parts I'm unsure if the location of these companies is important?  Do you just order the parts and have them delivered to you or do you have to actually go there?

That went right over my head! :ashamed:  I'm a spanner swinger, not a 'puter geek!  So how/where/why would I find those settings?  Would that be a 'global' setting, say in the control panel, or sommat in FireFox?  Help me help you!

Well, maybe open it to discussion - but I personally think it would be useful.  Yes, I agree that you may not personally 'visit' their premesis - but I thought the fundamental idea was about sharing recommendations.  And reputable supplies of parts are very important to those who do their own spannering.  Regarding their actual location on the map, I wouldn't say that should be a barrier (I'm sure the map would scroll to Germany and the US ) - a pinpoint containing their url should suffice.  Maybe put in brackets under their key entry (under the postcode search box) that those in this category may be mail order only or internet only.

Discuss.
