Audi A6 2.0 TDi Avant S Line
« on: November 02, 2010, 06:39:54 pm »
Been driving one of these today while the trainer is at the dealers and I have to say it is an absolute pleasure - I am amazed.

It's effortless and seems much more powerful than the PD 140 type engine.

In truth not my kind of car but I have to say it is a truly capable car and I can see the appeal for a family.

I find the S-lines are really really stiff and i think that the a6 really needs the 3.0TDI to be "fun" to drive!

I was driving the 2.7TDI A6 Avant yesterday and thought it was ok, nice a smooth and like you say its more of a family car.

This was an S-Tronic 58 plate, didnt seem to have much grunt low down, maybe thats just the S-Tronic coming in to keep it nice and smooth.

It might have needed kicking into 'S' mode...it was very smooth though, I liked that. Just dint seem to pick up too well till it hit 30/40 MPH then shot off  :driver:

Which engine did you have Stu, the new 170TDi with the straight twin pipe exhausts?

If the A6 wasn't so big, I'd consider one of these. Very executive and seem to have a good road presence.

I can agree on that, it deffinitly looks executive and sexy and -at least for such a 'big' car- the handling is very good. In my opinion it is way better than a Merc for example, though I like BMW better on handling and performance.

I am also curious if you were driving the 143hp or 170hp engine?

It was a common rail 140 Pete.

Just been out and swapped it for a 3.0TDi Q7 - Now that is a special motor

I'm not overly struck on the fuel consumption at the moment though, it makes the S3 look frugal  :surprised:
