Flashed!
« on: November 04, 2010, 03:03:55 pm »
Well its not the first time and dare i say   i doubt it will be the last,
Have been flashed 3 times in the past and never had anything come through, so just praying its the same this time round. (fingers crossed)

My car is getting its MOT done so have been using my mates MK2 TT, (Fully insured)

Unfortunately last night i got flashed,
now it s not a black and white case as the camera was facing  the other side of the road and the markings where also on the other side.
(no warnings or markings on my side of the road)

Just need to know if she should be expecting a letter in the post.  or will it be canceled??

Whats the situation.

Help .. :sad1:

I think you might get lucky if the cam was setup for use on the opposite side of the road.  The lines are also a requirement for checking the calculation so far as I know, as long as it was a GATSO and not Truvelo.

If the camera was facing you then I don't think there is anything to worry about. The only fixed speed camera with a visible flash is the Gatso, and although they can detect speed in both directions they are only approved for use in the UK in one direction (and are normally set up for one-way operation)
So  it was most likely a Gatso with a flash-only unit fitted - these will normally flash vehicles in both directions (sometimes only one flash as well, which is a dead giveaway) but there's no camera, they are just used as a deterrent.

'57 DSG GTI alas now gone, but not forgotten....
Now motorway cruising in a 61 Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.2 TDCi. 500+ miles to a tankful and bucketloads of torque :O Ok, it's not a GTI but it's fun... and that's what counts ;)
