Personally, I would stick with manual, yes the clutch is suspect if you remap, however fairly inexpensive to repair, when compared to a DSG box repair.

DSG Mechatronics units seem to be an Achilles heel.  Expensive to repair if it goes wrong, I do say if, however there are quite a few cases of problematic units.

If outside warranty, quite a big repair bill.  Not scaremongering, just open and honest, do the searches.

This is all just my opinion based on reading quite a few threads, both on here and other forums.  Pity really too, as the DSG seems to fit the bill for lots of people, and If i was after an auto box, and they could improve reliability issues, or give a more comprehensive warranty (ie US get 10 years I believe which is an indicator) I would consider it.

But I am happy with my manual.

IMHO.

Good luck in your search.

After playing it safe with manuals for years I can honestly say this DSG box is the most fun I have had with a car.
Mines done 50k but still feels fresh out the box and have no worries about the DSG (famous last words).

You must try one before you dismiss it, get the paddle shift one if you can!

Good luck!
