Xbox 360 issues since Dashboard update??
« on: November 05, 2010, 08:42:20 pm »
My 14 month old Elite 360 will not longer except any games or dvd's since ive downloaded the Live update today.

When you open the cd drive and insert the disc, apon it closing, it makes a god awfull noise and wont regesture there's a disc inside!!..

Anyone else got any issues aswell?

xbox want to charge me £69 or £82 for a repair, wqhich i told them to politely f**k off, as its their update thats screwed it up.

This week cant get any worse after 2 car incidents aswell!!! :sad1: :sad1:

I must admit the update did make me twitch a bit.

I couldn't download it for whatever reason and all it did was prompt me to upload so I downloaded it on my laptop and saved it on a memory stick. Stuck the memory stick into my new(ish) Elite S and it said do you wish to upgrade, yes said I and off it went. It then rebooted came back up and then the screen went black with "Please contact Xbox Support" in white spidery writing. Oh poop I thought. I took out the memory stick and rebooted it and its been fine but yes it "worried" me a bit.

So yes I had problems but it seems fine now.

Do you get the new dashboard at all?

Yes , new dashboard has come down, no problem with playing games that are on the hard drive, but anything via the cd rom, it doesnt work, just makes a horrible noise.

I bit the bullet and opened up the casings to see if my youngest had "Fed" anything inside the drive slot, ie Coins etc, ( im 2 months outa warranty so wasnt bothered about breaking the warranty sticker.

Ive now brought another 360, but this time the New version with the 250GB hard disc.
I will have to swallow the repair bill so i will have a consol on each screen downstairs Ian .

On a different tangent, had a play today with the new Kinect for the 360 in Game.

OMG, its absolutley awesome fun, and cant wait till next tuesday :jumpmove: :jumpmove:.

They say that the kinect will work with Black opps soon

Dunno chap tbh. If you have the lid off should be pretty straightforward from there.

If you don't update mojo you can't play on Xbox live.

Mines fine and I guess Steve has done his new one but at the end of the day it's your choice.

There's the 3 year xbox warranty. Mine got sent off for free and repaired by Microsoft.

IIRC the Xbox warranty is only for 12 months unless it is RROD.

No, my xbox is the white one and it had the red flashing lights before summer and I contacted Microsoft and I sent it to Germany at their expense. Mine is definitely over 1 year old.
