Howdy
« on: November 06, 2010, 09:41:30 pm »
I'm the proud owner of a reflex silver 5 door GTI.

Bought it on monday, took it for a drive on Tuesday, gave it a little clean on Wednesday, Waxed it Thursday, 4 wheel alignment Friday - started modifying it on Saturday!

I absolutely love it. Its quick enough and a hoot to drive hard. But its also so refined when you're just coasting about.

Fabulous.

Makes me feel 21 again when I want to be a young fool, or my actual age when I don't. As an owner of fast audis, alfas fords and peugeots I can say this car has the best balance of fun and sense.

Three out of three  :happy2:

Welcome....
'57 DSG GTI alas now gone, but not forgotten....
Now motorway cruising in a 61 Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.2 TDCi. 500+ miles to a tankful and bucketloads of torque :O Ok, it's not a GTI but it's fun... and that's what counts ;)

Hi and welcome.

Have you put up a thread with pics in it?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I got my sat nav (RNS510) from darren (Mortygttdi) send him a PM and he will give you a price. If you do buy it and need help fitting and coding it (send me a PM)
If you opt for the newest version you may need to change the CAN gateway.  Just tell Darren what model moncleryear your car is

Was the 4 wheel alignment worth it? Was it far out and could you tell the difference?

Cheers. :)

It didn't feel like it was that far out. A little bit crabby maybe, and the steering wheel was slightly offset in a straight line (2' maybe).

But then I saw the printout and it was miles out! :scared: :surprised:

I think it was the best £100 I've spent on a car in the last 10 years in terms of performance gain - the car handles like a proper GTI now.
But then, you had to know how it felt before I guess.
 :happy2:

My local p[lace was called tyreweb. It cost a bit more because the rear axle is adjustable, but then you can't put a price on handling!
Now the thing handles like its on rails - especially with 18" monza IIs
