Independents and Warranties
« on: February 15, 2009, 05:23:30 pm »
Hi all.

My car is due its second service and I'dlike to move to an independent specialist (Probably JKM). I believe that s long as they use OEM parts (and I believe JKM do) and I stick to the correct service intervals my warranty should be ok. Am I right? If so then what happens if the car needs one of the software upgrades from VW? I think these are a requirement for the warranty too but presumably only dealer can do this / would be aware that they're necessary?

Any avice appreciated.

Thanks.

An independant garage that uses OEM parts when servicing your car will enable you to keep the car's warranty intact.

If there are any software upgrades VW should do these for free as it is part of your warranty agreement.

....

From experience I can vouch for JKM being an excellent alternative for servicing your VW. I use both my VW dealers, whom I have an outstanding relationship with, and JKM (and also VWR) and JKM have spotted things missed by my dealer.
