K03 to K04
« on: November 07, 2010, 06:24:45 pm »
Is this a straight forward task to swap the turbos over and ancillaries, or is it an engine out job?

BN Performance did it for me without taking the engine out, so it is possible  :drinking:

Over the top mod list ;o)

What He Said,

I Installed an APR Stage 3+ into golf without engine removal.

But It's so much easier with the engine out. Your pretty much close to full engine removal anyway.

I always fit with the engine in.  Much faster imo.

Are the gti internals strong enough for a k04 and approx 340-360 bhp?

The Ko4 is a straight swap over, only difference is the discharge pipe which is interchangeable but to get full benefit you need to change injectors to ed30/s3. I have done nearly 30k on my conversion and the engine is still perfect. Even though the Ko4 engine is stronger it's not really that much stronger. It is well able for a KO4. It really is a great mod for the KO3 engine. The power is there always any rev.

Yes amongst other things, Forge Twintercooler, intake and uprated pump. Need to upgrade the clutch though, slipping.
