Result 2 new wings now fitted but Vw uk would not budge on the sills .......both dealer and Vw uk said paint defect which is only covered for 3 yrs :(

My April 05 TDI 140 has rust on both front wings. I'm glad I googled it!

I will be calling the dealership tomorrow, or would I be better of just turning up and getting the first step out of the way? I'd really like it sorted ASAP.

I'll be going via the Brighton VW dealership fwiw. Any experiences with them appreciated!

What was the turnaround time from when you initially enquired to getting your car back repaired?

28 days is the max time from phone auth to completion as it has to be signed off, in reality it was less than 3 days .... Dropped off on wed and returned to me sat morning

Tailgate been inspected and 50% payment towards fixing as its not within the corrosion warranty criteria :(

If it's not within the criteria then why are they offering 50%? They wouldn't give goodwill on an 8/9 year old car. They know it is a warranty issue and are hoping you'll accept their offer. Ring VW UK and kick up a fuss.

Waiting to hear back from dealer, but it sounds like I'll definitely get wing sorted. Interestingly the body shop guy said the sills are covered under a 10year warranty, can't remember his exact wording, but as a result my 05 car wasn't covered. I've not spoken with VWuk though.

How long have people usually had to wait between assessment (micrometer on wings) and hearing back with the good/bad news?

Well yes, after he assessed the wings he pretty much told me there and then that there wouldn't be a problem. He showed me what the paint match would be with one of those colour card things, and told me the claim would be sent to VW and I'd hear from them in due course.

That was a good week or so ago.

Just wondering if I should have heard back by now. I might give them a ring in the week.

I gave the bodyshop a ring on friday, 9 days after appointment, and he said that he'd chase it upwith vwuk, should hear from him tomorrow/tuesday.

Spoke to Hillsborough VW today after having the wings assessed a couple of weeks ago. All sorted, wings in and already painted, so booked in for the end of the month.

Thought I might have had a call back rather than having to chase them, but other than that they've been proficient and helpful so far. So I can't grumble.

Was quoted quite a few quid to have the paint blended into the doors, and opted not to as money's too tight. I'm just hopeful it's a good match. They used a spectrometer so in theory it should be good. Tornado Red by the way.

Similar story here. Chased them up again end of last week and he has said that the auth is through and the wing has been ordered and should be with them this week, so I'm expecting a call next week ish to get booked in. So hopefully all done by the end of the month.
