Had my paint measured/photos taken last week - not holding my breath though as the depth was way over, like 350 - 400 microns. Don't suppose i've got a chance in hell they will honour it?

When I got the Golf I first went to VW in June when I first got the car to put in a claim about the rust on the wings as they are covered under the 12 year bodywork guarantee, since then I have chased them up every couple of weeks to see how they was getting on.

Anyway to cut the long story short I go a phone call yesterday saying my claim had been approved and they are going to replace both wings. They need the car monday to friday next week to put two new front wings modify the new sponges underneath to prevent the problem occurring again and then to blend the panels.

I am taking the car in tomorrow and they will be giving me a courtesy car until the job is done. So all in all very happy!!

The wings currently;

I will be taking my car to the dealers over the next couple of months as my front arches have a small amount of blistering paint which will soon just be rust.  I also have blistering on my drivers door.  It is a small amount above the door trim piece, maybe about an inch long and 1cm high, and also below the trim, the blistering is about double this size.

Has anyone had a door resprayed under warranty?

I don't see why they wouldn't repair it. Only problem I've seen is the rear boot lid near the badge as it has the boot pop mechanism next to it so would interfere with the paint.

Door should be ok as long as paint is original and it's not near a handle etc.

Fingers crossed @slix

If not it could cost a bit to get it repaired.  Apart from this and the wings the paint work is mint.

So today I went to VW to pick the car up after having its front wings replaced under their bodywork guarantee. When I first got there I spotted the car so had a proper look round the car before going in.

I must say they have done a top job with the car and am so happy with it, they have replaced the two wings with brand new parts, modified the new sponge on the inside so its not exposed and then run a silicone bead around it to prevent it from happening again. They have also blended the paint so is a really good match and you wouldn't be able to tell.

I am so happy with the work they've done it was worth the 8 month and at no point was I asked for a single contribution by VW for the work.

The pictures don't do them justice but heres a few
