Its not the inner guard thats the problem, the sponge inside is what rots the metal from the inside out, but they wouldn't listen! So when the new wings go on, the sponge is coming out! haha

Definitely registering my interest in this.
My 2008 Golf has problems on both the arches, paint has cracked and peeled. Afraid it will start to rust soon.

My local VW garage is Peter Cooper, anyone have experience of them with regards to warranty claims like this?

Thanks

Me neither, I'd push for the whole job done under warranty.

They offered me the same to start with but I held out and within a few hours they rang back to to say they would cover the full amount. I'd hold out for more.

Wouldn't budge , 70% based on a mechanical fail , not a paintwork failure , so 70% is more a goodwill guesture than a warranty repair. Looking at £90 a wing if they are replaced , bit less if they are salvaged....

That's bollocks is that mate! This is what got me annoyed in the first place.. How can your mechanical defect be so different from mine or anyone else who had the total cost covered. I ain't got any service history with the dealer and they still covered the full amount. I'd be emailing the boss and asking why that is!

Took car in on Monday , gave me a 55bhp vw fox to cruise about in  :surprised: , expected to get the car back on Friday (10th) with a little private work also to be done I thought that would be fine , got a message today explaining that the main dealer has only got one of the wings and the other is in Germany !!!  Apparently none of these wings (not sure which side) are in the country !!!!
This surely can't be true ???
Gotta wait till next Tuesday before they get a delivery !!! Not expected to my golf back till next Friday now !!!
