Not much joy yesterday at Arnold Clark Volkswagen in Rutherglen, but then I have found their level of customer service to be rather poor in the past. Anyway, they had a look at my car yesterday and measured the paint depth on all the affected panels and they were all original and unpainted which I thought would stand me in good stead.
Affected areas are: drivers side rear quarter panel just above plastic bodykit and where it meets plastic bumper, drivers door sill area, around the VW badge on the tailgate. Both front wing are unaffected by rust so at least that's a plus point.
They looked at the areas that I pointed out, took measurements & pictures and he disappeared into his office to speak the VW down South. Five minutes later he returned with what looked like a printed PDF document giving reasons for the rust in the areas I pointed out and why they would not cover the full cost of repair under the anti-corrosion warranty. They said they would work out a price and email it to me. They would pay 50% of the cost. I am still waiting on the repair estimate.....which doesn't surprise me as I don't expect much from them due to past experiences.
I'm now off to try and find the terms & conditions of the VW 12-year anti corrosion warranty as my car has rust bubbles, is an 05 plate, has full VW service history and 60K miles on the clock.
