I noticed rear arch rust pretty much 1/2 of the inside arch. Whats vw stance on rear arch as most of this thread is about the fronts?

Where are you based? If in the south east go to Otford/Sevenoaks VW! They did mine FOC with no issues! Was there and back in less than 4 days

Getting both my sills sorted due to zinc bubbling up, been offered 75% towards it I'm just waiting on a quote and I've been told either a beetle or a Golf. Would be nice if it had DSG try out but not sure what spec it'll be.

Cheers for info but Im located in the North East unfortunately......only 2 local dealers Pullman and Benfield.

I am new to the forum having just bought an 05 GTI. I came across this thread when I joined and was shocked to hear about the rust issues!! Having checked mine I do have a small area on the front wing and also on the sill (same side). I know its cheeky given I have only just joined but if someone could e mail me the PDF doc I would be very grateful. I want to get my facts straight in my head before I tackle VW! Also where is best to start with VW in terms of people, is it the servie guy?! My e mail is m19ads@gmail.com......Thanks in advance

I went into my dealership to pick up some toys and I asked the Parts Manager who it is best to speak to regarding rust and he pointed me in the direction of the warranty bloke.

Same problem here on my MK5 GT TDI 55 plate. Near side wing paint blistering and the initial offer was 50% contribution which was then upped to 85% without even telling me about the first offer! Rejected their offer as feel 100% is more than fair.

Just went to Specialist Cars Volkswagen in Aberdeen and they are only offering 50% of the cost. Said one of the front wings look like they've been painted as its thin. Then said the sill was thick with paint so looks like its been over painted or something....I don't know the technicalities of it all but I guess the point of the matter they are making is that's its had some sort of paint put on the affected areas...which personally I don't see how that even makes a difference.

I only bought the car from a private seller in May. It has full VW service history and my fiancee's family are long term customers of the specialist cars group, buying company cars and personal cars over the years...adding that to what others have been offered, 50% seems a miserable offer. I have 4 weeks to accept or not they said.
