Condenstation On Dash Clocks
« on: November 11, 2010, 10:54:53 pm »
When I got into the car this morning guys (was about 8.5 degrees celcius as per the car thermometer) I noticed there was a distinct layer of condensation over the clocks. Nowhere else in the vehicle was obviously condensated', not even in the windscreen, just the clocks - Speedo, revometer, petrol gauge etc...

Just to ensure this is a one off, does that signify anything is wrong, other than being bizarre?

The pollen filter has been changed at around 60k (its currently on 75k miles) and I regularly clean the interior, twice a month at worst.
Nothing to worry about or investigate?  It's not even like it could be a leak as the sweeping grey dash plastic towards the steering wheel means the clocks aren't exposed from above.

Thanks.
Pete

Have you cleaned them lately as I find over a period of time they can create themselves a layer a film which is presumably caused by the A/C being on and off and general pollutants from the roads/atmosphere.

There's nothing to worry about with this, a few of my mates have had this in their cars, (Audi S3's and Focus RS). I had this a few weeks ago too and i'm fairly sure that several other forum members will have experienced the same :happy2:

Guys, this is nothing to worry about. I had exactly the same issue in last winter's cold snap. I found it was down to the fact that I do relatively small trips which meant the cabin temp didn't really get warm enough. As a result of this, each time I came and started the car in the morning I found that there was condensate on the dash clocks and sometimes the windscreen. I found that if I left the car running in the evening with the blowers on full for 5 mins before switching off (hence warming up the inside nicely) then each morning there was no condensate. I also replaced the pollen filter which seemed to help. Since doing this routine in the winter months I have not had this issue again. Also, this only seems to happen in the winter... Hope this helps.... :happy2:

I had this yesterday morning - the only time its ever done it - was very odd, but cleared after not long by itself.
