Old Motors
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:55:44 pm »
Just been sat looking through my old photos of previous cars and suddenly realised how much I missed this beast. Oh, I know it ain't VAG but its gotta be one of the best BMW body shapes there has been IMO. Just got me thinking how nice it would be to never have to sell an old motor so you could revisit it every now and again eh  :sad1:

A mate of mine use to do that. Its why he ended up with 45 cars at my last count for a number of years  in a unit at an industrial estate he has, But he never bought new expensive cars just used ones. The reason he cleared down to around 20 cars was simply forgetting to Sorn them or tax them he kept getting stung in fines.

E30's becoming a bit of a classic now, something I think will never happen with the E36.

One of these would be fun!

The E30 is a timeless shape and it was a lovely motor to drive but by god was it thirsty as hell! And it spat me out of a roundabout the wrong way on more than one occasion. It was mint to and still pushing out 189 ponies when I sold it. A week later the guy totalled it into a lamp post  :sad1:
I would have another one any day! Especially one like this:

^^^Beautiful.

What I love about older cars is that their silhouettes are instantly recognisable. These days all cars look generic.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
