Edition 30 Console lights not working.
« on: November 15, 2010, 09:24:18 am »
Good morning Guys and Girls

I have a slight problem on the Edition 30 which I am hoping is a quick fix.

As you can see from the photo below, the RCD500 headunit and some of the Climatronic illuminating lights are not working on the centre console, is this a common problem to do with blown fuses or have the lights themselves blown and need to be replaced?

Thanks

Richard

UPDATE

I have had a look at the fuse box this lunchtime but have not been able to find any blown fuses, I took a picture below, can anybody tell me if anything looks out of place or a fuse is in the wrong place??

Thanks

Richard

No amount of fuse changing is going to sort that out.

Seems unlikely the leds have gone either.

Like Rich says get it back if under warranty!

Have you taken the dash apart to see if it's something as simple as a loose connection at the back of it, it's not too difficult to remove the centre consol area, but can be fiddly if you haven't got any trum tools.

The radio and the climate panel are two distinct and separate units ... its very odd that some of the leds have gone from both.

Would say it's a faulty head unit mate something must have blown like a resistor within the unit itself,as said hopefully ur in warranty,I'd still take it to Vw even of not

Thanks for all the helpful advice guys!

I popped into my local VW dealer and got all my details attached to the car now, I forgot to ask about the warranty thou :-(. But isn't the warranty only 3 years and I have a 56 plate  :sad1:

But on the plus side I got them to agree to look over the car without charging me ect to find out what the problem is.

Thanks

Richard
