Drivers Door Unlocking being temperamental

The last day or so I've found that when unlocking the car the drivers door hasn't been playing ball.  If I just press the remote once the driver door unlocks fine.  When I press it twice (to unlock all doors) it unlocks all the doors except the drivers door !! I then have to keep pressing the unlock on the remote until it unlocks which can take several attempts !

Any idea ?

Thought I'd sussed this after unlocking the door the old fashioned way with the key it started working as it should with the remote but went to try it again this morning and it didn't unlock until I pressed the remote about 4 times.

I have similar issues with my old 1999 Passat where doors unlock randomly so I tend to press the unlock about 4 times by default to ensure it unlocks all the doors.

It sounds like a software thing.. would VCDS be able to help me out with this one ? as I have it on my Christmas List.

It could be the locks themselves. The deadlock motor/solenoid can cause problems. There will definately be a fault code stored. I scanned a car a few months ago and 3 out of 4 doors had the same fault. Uwe from ross-tech commented he thought it was the motor.

The car was a '07 with only 18k on it

^^ corroded door lock mechanism. Lack of use with key makes the lock jam up.Insert your key and spray wd40 down the barrel and work key from left to right several times.

Spray some wd40 into the door lock and remove the inspection rubber grommet (side of door) aswell .

Its purely a corrosion issue.

Clear error code in vcds and you should be fine.

If it comes back , new barrel is req.

Cheers for the replies guys.

I'll try the WD40 option first and hope I haven't got the same issue as the guy on vagdrivers that you checked out.

Hopefully getting VCDS in the next few weeks so will be able to check for fault codes.

Where does everyone get there cables from in this country ? Do you all get them from Ross-Tech direct or order them from somewhere in this country ?
