Changing Standard Style Fog Lights For Projector Type
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:27:01 pm »
Attempted this today guys and it was easy, up untill the point where I realised that the connector which houses the Bulb holder is different.

The work around is to cut the old connector off, then crimp and heat sink the new bulb holder on. Anyone think that this will be a problem before I attempt it? I really can't see it, but thought I'd ask  :happy2:

You need the wires that come with this kit, I think the dealers do them

Thanks Cooper, perfect plug and play kit. I actually have both type of connectors as these were chopped off the donar cars fog light loom, so I still think I can do a DIY job? :happy2:

I had the same problem when I put the GT front end on mine.

The old fogs had different connectors to the new. I just cut them off, soldered the new connectors on and heat shrunk them up!

The last time I got some connectors and repair wires from VW it cost me £40!

I just cant work Vw out sometimes, Repair wires and connectors for £40, seems like they want to put you off doing anything yourself by scaring you off with crazy prices??? :fighting:

Looks like a bit of good old handy work tomorrow then.........

Lol, yeah I know, they only fold about and inch, it's only the fact that I got a cheap set with all the controllers that I'm fitting them :happy2:

Plus it's an extra OEM toy

I also did the "Even Stevens" rear fog light conversion today.... Piece of cake and looks so much better. Why Vw didn't do it as standard God only knows? :stupid:
