Not for me mate.

My only experience with 3D so far has been Avatar at the cinema and I have to say the glasses and 3D spoiled the film for me. Maybe my poor eyesight has something to do with it though.  :ashamed:

The cinema is passive though, not active.

If it were my money i would get a series 9 samsung led 3D. I'm waiting for the technology to evolve a little and drop in price though.

I'm thinking 3D TV is one to sit and wait to see what happens maybe?

Otherwise, I buy Panasonic stuff. Generally always in the top 3 of any test and really reliable.
Sideways yo!

Wait to evolve.

I personally cannot watch it as I get a headache due a lazy eye (wonky eye!).

So I am just hoping that not all TVs become 3D.

I am waiting for Holographic Projection for the obvious Porn Fest! :signLOL:

We have recently got a Samsung. 50" Plasma. Its FAR better than the cinema.

Apparently plasma are better for films/sports as you dont get any drag

Was £1300 in Currys but £1000 on Amazon :happy2:

So very reasonable.

There is usually a TV set up in Currys etc, just make sure the glasses are switched on.

I'd wait a couple of years yet.

It's like any new technology. You pay a fortune for a sub standard ( compared to what it will be ) product that evolves rapidly once they have tested the waters to see how popular it will be.

I don't think 3D will take off properly until the Gaming industry get involved AND you don't need to wear glasses.

I saw some of the recent Ryder Cup in 3D and it was no different to watching 3D in cinemas I.e. Crap and just a gimmick.

Well I've been looking around and there is a Samsung PS50C680 that has caught my eye.

Not that expensive either £998 at Curry's with a 3D Blu-ray player and 3 sets of glasses included in the price (plus another by redemption on the Samsung website) - Also has an extra offer on of having all the Shrek movies on 3D Blu-ray too.

2D HD on Sky and Blu-ray is said to be excellent, so it would be an extra bonus - 0.0013ms refresh rate and 600hz screen sounds good too. Much better than my current TV anyway you slice it.

Been on the AV forum and they reckon it is as good as the Panasonic 50"er for basically £1k less and with glasses that actually fit!

I've had a look at some 3D TV displays and I for one can really see the 3D effect very well. :happy2:

Waiting for a 3D TV that doesn't need glasses is between 10-20 years away. The nearest anyone has come to doing it is Sony and even then it is only on a 17" screen that can only give the 3D effect from 9 specific angles and the effect isn't as good (quoted 10% depth of a current 3D glasses only TV) and the TV is over a foot deep!! - Don't think anyone will be signing up for that soon.

The biggest doubt in my mind was the dreaded "crosstalk", whereby the pictures get mixed every now and then. This is much more pronounced on LCD/LED TV's and this is why Panasonic will only currently make 3D TV's using Plasma technology. The 3D displays I have seen bear this out as the Panasonic 3D effect is superb on Plasma as is the Samsung Plasma, yet the Samsung and LG LCD/LED TV's I've seen suffer quite a bit of crosstalk when the action gets heavy and starts to blur - not something I ever noticed on the Plasma's.

Hmmm don't be so sure. They (can't remember which company it was but i think it was Sony) have already made the R2D2 style 3D Projection recently that you can view from any angle (i.e walk all the way round it) so i'm sure that it won't be that far away. They reckoned themselves they would have 3D TV's without glasses within 5 years and the 3D projection technology within 10-12 years

If that is true then the TV I buy now should just about see me to that technology being available. I hope it is 5yrs :happy2:
