Newbie seeking help
« on: November 11, 2010, 09:26:28 pm »
Hi all.Can anyone help me ??
I'm new to mk5 ownership and last week bought my first one.A 2005 tornado red 5 door.
Love it,problem is yesterday the dash lit up warning me of a blown rear left side brakelight bulb.
When i got home i found all lights working fine.
Today the warning light wasn't lit !!
But on my way home tonight the exhaust fault light lit up and stayed on,then the same rear brake light light lit up !!!
Do you think i have 2 faults...bulb and exhaust or a dash problem ??
Any help on this would be really helpful.
Many thanks Paul

Hi and welcome.

Have a look at the VCDS register to see if there's anyone local who might be able to scan the car and identify an error.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Howdy  :happy2:

Hope you sort the car out too. Defo check the Vagcom register as I'm sure there'll be somebody local to you who can scan the car for faults. Bulb is easy and cheap enough to sort out so I'd be tempted to just replace that my self for a few quid and see if it crops up again. As for the exhaust...faulty lambda sensor maybe?
