Car Vacuum Cleaner - Review....

RedRobin:

Very much what it says on the box.

Powered via 12v socket in your car.

Made in Germany, or at least designed there.

TUV approved - Very confidence inspiring.

3-year warranty - Impressive.

Costs £6.99 from Lidl - Incredible!! Usually costs £9.99 (also incredible!).

The attachments can be slotted either directly into the main body or onto the hose. The smaller brush has stiff bristles good for carpet and the larger brush has softer bristles good for upholstery and even has a swivelling head. The thin nozzle really reaches into most of the tight corners or gaps. Suction power is good without blowing your socks off. The body is semi transparent which is useful for letting you see how full the dust container is. Both container and filter are washable. the power cable is 5m and so easily reaches the back shelf, although my car also has a 12v socket in the boot. The design really has been well and teutonically thought out.

I've had two very minor problems with it - both easily sorted:

1 - When used vigorously and 'pulling' towards you, a brush attachment can pull itself out. So it's better to use more 'pushing' movements.

2 - Again under vigorous use, the ribbed hose appeared to have broken away from the end knuckle but close inspection showed that assembly uses the ribbing as worm screw and so it was simply a matter of 'screwing' it more tightly together.

Previously I've used a Henry vacuum but it's always meant extending a power cable from indoors and the attachments are a bit too big.

What's not to like?

At that money you can't go wrong.

Dyson Root :happy2:

Best portable hoover out there, as powerful as an upright Dyson.

Downside has 6 minutes life, but in the grand scheme of things, you can hoover the car in that time  :happy2:

And it £99 last time i looked. :ashamed:

....Are you saying it only has 6 minutes of life before power nose dives? And how many hours to recharge I wonder? I probably spent about 20 minutes using my SilverCrest today.

It also looks pretty huge. Perhaps the nozzles and brushes are small enough.

^ Electric drill mates with cake mixer!

I would have gone for the dyson if it has more running time. Unlike Saint steve, I actually vacuum the car thoroughly using the cylinder dyson at home takes more than ten minutes.
