Clutch slip :-(

Hey Folks

My car 07 plate GTi REVO stage 1 with a Miltek cat back has started slipping the clutch whilst accelerating at motorway speeds in 5th and 6th gear

So im looking into replacement options and after searching the site ive come up with 2 options a VWR upgrade clutch or just a plain OEM one.

Now im leaning towards the VWR clutch as im planning on going stage 2 has anyone got one fitted? If so what does it feEl like compared to standard? How much did it cost fitted all in?

And at the moment the clutch is only slipping whilst accelerating at motorway speeds and is fine around town im considering having the Remap taken off and waiting until the clutch gets worse or at least until after Christmas to get it replaced. Is this wise or should I just bite the bullet pull the credit card out and get it done ASAP?

keep the oem dmf and get the sachs uprated clutch pack to match

accelerating at motorway speeds in 5/6th gear is probably not the best for the clutch tbh, thats the rpm band where your in peaktorque territoy for long durations so it will eat the clutch.  keep the map on and if you want to accelerate just change down a gear instead

Price is a guess but maybe 500£, and i would think that Awesome or JKM would be able to assist you

I just got the Sachs clutch and do like it. When I picked it up it was very harsh and easy to stall  but after 20 or so miles it performs like O.E but the pedal is quite a bit harder, something I don't notice until I get into another car and they feel so soft and spongy. The only other thing I have noticed but which doesn't bother me is a little bit of judder when holding on the bite point, they say this should go after a few more miles.

I had a similar that issue on a revo Leon FR with the same engine. As Sy says the combination of accelerating hard on the motorway in 5th and 6th made it worse. Also it would only do it when the engine was cold. If you waited until the engine was properly warm say a good 30 mins not just when the temp gauge is up it wouldn’t do it. It stayed like this for 6 months without getting worse. Never changed my clutch either.

Hmm if your clutch is slipping it ain't good, for one it can ruin your flywheel and cost even more. Any how who has a remap and tries not to floor it in fifth and sixth?

i never had an issue with slipping at all in 26000miles of being remapped,

i did have the opposite of slipping though   after track days i found that my car with the clutch out wanted to move forwards as it would with the clutch engaged on tick over, which is a pain in traffic.  really strange.  went away after half hour of cruising on the motorways.

That's cause you're a jammy git 
Cost me £400 for clutch £213 for flywheel and slave cylinder and £267 for fitting

I needed a new clutch and flywheel. £650 all in, I always drop a gear these days and avoid flooring it in 4th and above around 3000 rpm
