Which brake and suspension upgrade for Edition 30?

Hi guys, am thinking of nipping into either Awesome or Pipewerx before VAT rise in Jan and have decided to go with Revo over Blufin in case do get the modding bug and want to go to stage 2! If I can afford it I want to get brakes and suspension done also so need help -

Suspension - I dont want something rock solid, was it Steve's car where he was saying he had the front set differently to the back to give a neutral ride which was good for road ( i wont be going on track)? If so what was he running was it Eibach sportline and would you recommend for my needs?

Brakes - Are the Golf R brakes the best VAG upgrade to go for ie bigger than R32, S3 and Cupra R? I presume going for a Brembo set up would be over the top if not using on a track not to mention rahter expensive?

All depends on your budget, if you have £500-£600 for suspension then look at the Bilstein B12 kit for a no-nonsense setup, if its more like £100-150 then Eibach springs are a great alternative.

Brakes, much the same really. R32 upgrade is popular and does the job for 99% of situations, choose your pads according to the likley use i.e dont go buying a full on track pad as it wont be much use for the road. Pagid blues are my current favourite for road use.

cheers, PDT. I dont think you are based in North West are you? So how much bigger are the R32 brakes over the Ed30?Pagid blues eh - will look at those then. Re budget i really need to stick to the Eibach I guess as getting married next year and dont think my partner will be too happy if i blow honeymoon fund on mods!

We are near Newcastle, but tbh we dont sell that many parts as such as we are a tuning/dyno/software specialist but happy give advice.

R32 are bigger but the calipers offer a greater clamping force over the OE gti calipers, wait a few hours and there will be plenty of folks posting about how good the R32 setup is over the originals.

at a reasonable cost point the 2 main choices are

1) R32 setup : OE VW calipers + OE discs , still 2 pot but work well , downside is they are very heavy (can be offset by fitting different lower arms etc ).
2) The 'not so big brake kit' from DaveB1970 on here (there a thread somewhere...) , porsche calipers (4 pot) with OE smaller VW discs. less heat capacity than R32 setup but many forum members on here have found they work just as well. They are also light.

I bought R32 setup from Dave a while back (with cross drilled OE discs) and its fab  :happy2:
However, if I was doing it again I would probably go the NSBBKit  route just to reduce the unsprung weight as I feel thats a better dynamic setup all round  :happy2:

both are good, balance OE parts vs costs and availability. Both improve the OE Edition 30 brakes immensely, so you cant go wrong.

Dave is the guru (now semi retired  :signLOL:) , so PM him your requirements

Another vote here for the Cupra/S3?r32 upgrade with decent pads and drilled/J Groove discs will be all you ever need by the sounds of it.

Also worth considering AP Coilovers as there are many happy owners around these parts and for the price they are immense!  :happy2:

another vote for Dave B aka Professor Friction.

Whatever you do, make sure you bleed them properly, as my current car (Roc R) has factory fitted R32 calipers, and they have so much more bite than the R32 set up I fitted.  All I can think of is the bleeding was not quite 100%.

Whatever you go for, get the R32 rear set up and you will be well happy, will a well balanced car.
