RS3 Announced

Just a heads up that the RS3 should appear on The Audi configurator next week. Deliveries expected from April 2011. I'm hoping to get a ride in one before then however

Went out in a RS5 today. Very nice indeed with great soundtrack from the 4.2 V8.

Hope to get a ride in a TTRS next week to compare.

Shame the friend can't get the R8 GT out of the showroom lol.

TTRS will be quicker if its s-tronic than the rs5.

Waynes got a b7 RS4 at the moment and whilst its v.v.nice, it is kinda slow, reminds me of just a bigger more powerful r32. Nice soundtrack as you say though.

BTW hurdy, you posted up a link about some super duper lightweight bucket seats on these forum ages ago, you wouldnt happen to remember the name of that company at all would you?

some nice options there, suede steering wheel, handbrake and gear change would be nice - but expensive.

Not so sure mats can be worth £450 no matter how 'special' they are

As Luke said - Tillet seats. If you get a chance to go to the Autosport show at the NEC in Birmingham, then they have loads on display from different manufacturers and you get to sit in them all to see if they fit and how comfortable they are.

I think the way forward for the RS3 would be a good diet for starters 1575kg is a little lardy, so if I can get some lightweight seats, battery and wheels on that should drop the weight substantially to at least 1570kg

335bhp and 1.575t = 212bhp/ton

Add a stage 1 remap

403bhp and 1.575t = 256bhp/ton

Lose some weight (approx 50kg)

403bhp and 1.535t = 262bhp/ton

Then stage 2

435bhp and 1.535t = 283bhp/ton

should help move the car.

The fact that the s-tronic gearbox is rated at 650nm and even stage 2 would give around 580nm means that I should see decent launches with no clutch slip and 4wd.

so the RS3 should go sub 4 seconds to 60mph......hopefully and low 12's/high 11's on the qtr mile and (fingers crossed)and easy sub 8 mins on the 'ring (B to G).
