It's on when the engine is running, and also when it detects motion when parked up ("parking mode").

It has a power saver accessory fitted (also sold by blackvue) which stops parking mode coming on once the battery voltage has dropped below a predefined threshold, so that it doesn't kill the battery. If the car is on the drive, that means parking mode will work for about a day and a half after turning ignition off, or about a day when on my road (gets triggered more).

It's also wifi enabled, so you can connect to it and check footage on an app on your phone.

Here's another vid where I used the dashcam, I prefer this one to the hit and run!
