Am i going mad??????
« on: November 22, 2010, 07:02:49 pm »
Hi Folks,

Just wanted to pick your brains.

Basically, finished work, driving home, the tyre pressure warning symbol illuminates on the dash. Pull into supermarket car park and check tyres - passenger rear is very low on air. I top up tyre,  make way to tyre garage to get it repaired.
Anyway, the car is unlocked as ive just gone into the boot to get the locking wheel nut and the little tool to removed the wheel nut covers. chatting away to tyre guy when i look up and see all the windows are down!!

when i got home, i tried to replicate the same scenario to no joy.

Ive disabled the remote windows open/close function just in case - i dont think ive ever used it anyway.

The only explanation i can think of is as i was kneeling down to remove the wheel nut covers, the car key in my pocket my have been pressed thus opening all the windows.

Anyone have any meaningful theories/explanation?

Thanks

Richard

Oddly I did exactly the same when I removed my wheels the other week, and yes it was my keys being pressed as I knelt  :happy2:

I've done the same - Involuntarily pressed the key, that is - It's easily done in a tight trouser pocket.  :happy2:

.........hold it down for a few seconds & it should ''beep'' & light should go out  :happy2:.

Not a major problem...

Take the car to VW and get them to update the software on the CCM Module.

The Central Convenience Module (CCM) controls all electronics such as electric windows, mirrors etc etc etc. Now the module itself is German. However the software that runs the windows is American... Catching onto the problem here?

VW simply replaces the software with what i call a "truce" software. It stops the bickering and takes no more than an hour to copy over.

Voila - Problem solved.  :notworthy:
