How long to install v7 maps?
« on: November 26, 2010, 06:16:34 pm »
Guys, It's been a couple of years since i last installed maps on my rns-510.

I selected option to save maps and then there is no progress bar but i can hear the drive making all the right noises but after at least an hr, its still going and i have no idea when it will finish.  Does it install while the car is in motion, or just when stationary.

Experiences would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

WHat I tend to do is leave the radio on and just lock the car.

Normally takes an hour or so. To tell how far it has got, press the eject button and it will bring up a progress bar say notify and just leave it going.

Thanks.

What firmware are you running?

When i press eject it just says ejecting navigation disk and then quickly validating data?

Any other way guys to get up a progress bar?

Cheers

You have to have selected to save the maps to HDD before you press eject otherwise it will just spit the disc out.

It can take up to 10 mins before you get the prompt to save the maps to HDD (as i found out the other day) :happy2:

I'm sure it said right at the beginning, just read map disk or back up/save (can't remember the exact terminology as it was yesterday)?

Is this what you're referring to?  If not are you saying its starting again everytime the unit switches on?  Bloody hope not, my ignition cuts power to everything within 30 mins or so and dont want to sit in car in this weather with the ignition on

When you put the disc in you will get a prompt saying Navigation will stop if you continue. You then select continue or ok whichever it says.

You then get a prompt asking to save to HDD or run from disc. At that point you select Save to HDD.

After that point press eject and you will get a progress bar and 3 prompts. One of which is Notify. Press notify and then just leave it

Why is nothing straight forward:( I appreciate the help!

Apart from erasing the map partition and reinstalling. Or you could reload V6.1 and then try V7 again.

I'm not sure there is much else you can do.
