Making the gear change more positive

Hi guys

As above, I am looking to improve the gear change on my R32.
Have been looking at short shifters and fitting the neuspeed engine torque arm insert.

Is a short shifter not a short shifter? as prices seem to vary alot.
Compbrake ~ £50
Forge ~ £65
Neuspeed ~ £120
HPA
Dieselgeek

The list goes on........ What does everyone recommend?

ihad the forge one and it was very nice.

to add a mixer into the game, you could always fit a TT gear shift linkage.  quite a few guys have done this and its alot cheaper as well iirc

I run the diesel geek.  Best thing out there for a short shift, but you can see that in the price.  Great quality.  42 draft design do the replacement inserts for the plastic ends.  I hear then work ok when mated to a TTS shifter.

Will have to look into the TT shifter. How much reduction does it give compared to say the forge?


Does anyone know if the shifters are the same part for the R32 and GTI?

"As an alternative to an aftermarket short-shift how about one from the TT-S/TT-RS. Much cheaper than the Forge offering, OEM and a definite reduction.

why be involved in the change when you can guarantee perfection and speed every time.

And i tell it when to change and it does it...what more do you want?

Haha, it's a debate that will go round and round ad infinitum!

My reply was tounge in cheek though, so it's not a debate in want to get into, other than to say that I personally prefer a manual gear change.

does anyone have any experience with the 42 draft design bushes?   used with a standard shifter or short shifter?
