You will find alot of the members on this forum with GTIs will go for one of the following tyres:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics
Michelin Pilot Sport PS3s
Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas

All of the above seem to get good reviews

Just remember the F1 is a summer tyre so performance when the temperature is <6C isn't the best.
Without traction power is nothing!

Got F1 assymetrics on the BMW and they are great (most of the time). They are rubbish at cold temperatures and in the snow (like most tyres).

I have Sessantas on the Golf and they are they same, except they grip better (noisier though).

Both are very good but for this weather, seriously consider winter tyres. If not, look at Kuhmo KU31s. Underated and excellent VFM. Similar performance to the F1s at less cost too. :happy2:

....Well, since Friday I've driven 430 miles on GY F1 Asymmetrics with outside temperature displaying in the dashboard between -4C and +1C and felt no tyre/grip problems. My individual tyre temperatures have started off at 1C and risen to 15C (usually 40C in hotter weather). I haven't driven on snow though.

I'm not saying that the F1's are a winter tyre though - They're clearly not and winter tyres would be far better by all accounts but I am able to completely avoid driving in any snow or icey conditions unless I'm already on the road and caught out.

If anyone is wondering how I know this info, I have a TyreSure monitor installed which updates itself every 5 seconds and toggles automatically between individual tyre pressures and temperatures. A luxury but a bit of kit I now wouldn't want to be without as the info is very reassuring.
