Genuine vw Iphone 3gs cradle - doesnt work.....

I just received one of these and was hopeful since its an OEM peice of kit, genuine vw part number, box etc etc.
I plugged my iphone in, it charges the phone and thats about it. I cant pair the device, even though the phone finds the vw uhv bluetooth device?
I cant believe that vw would actually sell these knowing fine well that they dont even work surely???
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get this piece of kit to work? I have the correct phone prep that specified for it to work aswell?

does it need coding?  Also do you have the factory fit phone prep as this should then work through steering wheel then?

Im intersted in this also as i have factory phone prep with a old nokia holder and when i asked the dealer if there was a iphone cradle they said no, typical.

How much  did you pay for this and where did you manage to get it from?

I would hold back if I were you on buying one until I get this resolved mate. I've been intouch with VW customer care, and they asked for my chassis number, the bloke on ebay I bought it off hasnt got back to me yet, and Ive raised a dispute through ebay. So I wait until I find out the next step....
It shouldnt need coding in, as even the instructions say it will plug 'n'play

just a quick one i noticed that some of the ads on ebay.de list the part for bluetooth only and others say for uhv.

I have since tried another couple of iphones and none of them could pair with the device. I had the same bother when I tried the VW touch adapter, the garage tried it in another demo car, and that couldnt pick up any iphones either , I think its to do with teh bluetooth it uses, think its rsap or something like that, which is different to other phones.

Also, If you look on german ebay, they are all selling the same cradle, as the part numbers are all the same(3C0051435BA), and they are all saying that you cannot return the product! I wonder why.......
