Induction Kit Fitted and modified engine cover

Hi all

Fitted an induction kit at the weekend, no super duper manufacturer just one of them ones off ebay, good price and does the job. Makes a great sound now as well and even slightly different as its a DSG, you can sort of hear the re-cric DV dumping air more constantly compared to a manual i think. If you get what im saying lol

I also got a second hand engine cover off ebay and chopped it and modified it.

Here are the results, im well happy with it.  :smiley:

Great work mate, looks really neat!
I have been thinking about doing something similar myself, did the cover take much prep work before spraying?

Cheers, nah not much prep work needed just sanded it down a little bit to roughen it up a little so the plastic primer takes to it better. Then the usual methods of sanding then next coat etc.

Ive seen that intake before, we used to make somethig very similar. You need to ditch the filter for something far less restrictive (look inside the filter and you will see what I mean) and inside is a cheap yellow plasic part that comes loose over time, goes brittle and breaks up, the last place you want those little bits in your turbo!

Engine cover looks mint I did this a month ago but the middle part fell off and the heat twisted it all and the fan cut through it   :ashamed:

 :confused: Was it because the middle wasn't secured correctly or did something else cause it to disconnect from the main cover?
