Nankang Snow SV-2 - First Impressions
rdfcpete:
For those of you who have used these tyres on a manual GTI or Mk5, do they perform better with the ESP enabled or disabled when climbing hills or inclines?
Thanks.

I've never turned off ESP when using them, but saying that I've never seen the light come on either, in the snow anyway. They don't break traction very easily at all when the weather is cold or snowy.

I have them on my Edition 30 wheels. 225/40R18.

i always had ESP on on my vRS with winter tyres on. i actually thought the ESP was brilliant in the snow. You could bury the throttle and it would keep the revs below 1500rpm iirc ensuring you didnt spin up. as son as you turn it off the torque just lights wheels up in the snow.
The thing to note about the ESP its not just traction control. its also stability control so if you start sliding it helps out by applying the brakes where required etc

Yup :happy2: Recognised Sy. I've personally not driven with these tyres on - was simply curious whether ESP in general got in the way of executing a clean start on a hill when traction on snow is at a premium.
