R32 brake setup, should I bother with the rears?
« on: November 28, 2010, 08:05:00 pm »
I have the calipers which need repainting.

I have to buy discs, pads and lines for the fronts.

So should I bother with the rears?

If I said I would be doing a trackday next year I would be lying!

Its just road use and as I am old not very fast at that :signLOL:

Thanks in advance.

I've been running just the fronts for a few months now and no dramas. I don't track it either.

Bit snatchy at times but I have got used to it and just apply less pressure to the pedal.

Same as Carl...but I don't think I have the snatchy thing...well not that I'm aware of.

I'm running upgraded fronts only for a while now and have done two track days on them also. Seemed to perform pretty well, haven't noticed any snatchiness.

I wouldnt bother with the rears mate, I ran standard brakes with revo stage 2+ and never had any issues so the fronts should be more than enough  :happy2:

Hi Chris, its only a temporary measure until I can raid the bank for AP or Brembos.

I will run just the fronts until the pads and discs wear out then put the R32 ones on with the above.

The wife has the full setup on her Touran and when I get back in after the golf I nearly go through the window.

Its heavier and has standard pads!

My cousin Beddie on here has R32s on the front of his, I had a go of it one day and they do grab a lot more and made mine feel poor, but I was used to the standard ones so never bothered changing, you still got the ds2500 pads in? They did help a fair bit ..

If you are not going on track, then in my opinion, you really don't need to upgrade the rears. As for the snatching i think you would only get this if you fit a massively improved kit to the fronts, thus throwing the balance out a bit. When i went to the ring i felt my bigger brakes where making the car lurch and go into the corners unbalanced, but most experienced drivers actually prefer this, and use it to there advantage. For me it was unsettling.  :happy2:
