black paint hey? detroit style?

i dunno to just look for a single rim on ebay, as they are mostly advertised as single rims..

i think a complete respray would be the option if they all got really bad..

btw.. anyone got a worse case of white worm?

....2 weeks! - No, just kidding! About 2 years, even with regular cleaning etc.

The corrosion gets under the lacquer - there's really nothing you can do except choose one of the options I suggested in the linked thread on the subject.

It's not an uncommon fault on all BBS alloys with this finish and many have been replaced under warranty but VW/BBS still continue to supply this design! The Mk6 looks like it'll have it too.

Any wheel which has ANY degree of kerbing, even if nowhere near the worm's location, will be NOT be replaced under warranty.

Yes, those pics are of mine.

....

I reckon it's defo UK road grit/salt related cos it happened to mine not long after a similar wintry spell like we had recently. I.E. within just a few weeks of heavy road gritting.

Dunno if it happens in other countries - Would be interesting to know.

Not completely true, i had all 4 of mine replaced in the last few days of warranty.  One had a massive chunk missing on the edge due to the missus and while one dealer said the corrosion must be bigger than the curbing, my other friendly dealer took photos and sent them to vw.  Vw came back and said replace them all.  My corrosion was tiny bits of worm on the very edge, nothing on the face.  You wouldn't get that wheel replaced as the curbing has caused the corrosion but if you end up with corrosion on another part of the wheel then you may get lucky

I think you got lucky - VW UK were crystal clear about it with me.

I thought their objection was that your car was not supplied with the wheels from the factory so wouldn't honour a warranty on them?

If there is minor damage but the whiteworm is not where its been damaged you can sometimes (dealer dependant) get them swapped but as RR stated, some will refuse if there is any damage to the wheel.  I went through this when trying to get the 25th Anni wheels swapped.

In fact I am suprised VW are not swapped them with refurbished painted Monza's II by now, like they did with the RC's

....Yes that's the technicality they used to duck out of the issue, but during the process of my claim this point I made earlier was made clear.

I was lucky with out 25th Anni wheels - I bought the car from the original owner and he had never had the wheels swapped (car was just under 5 years old), to cut a long story short with a bit off hassle and persistance as I knew about the problem I managed to get 4 new alloys from them -  FOC in the end too ;o)
