I hear what you are saying, but is that not the same as saying well the bonnets up i may as well change my head light bulbs there only a quid or two.
A lot of people do exactly the same as you and i just wondered whether there was a physical reason why its better to change it rather wait until it fails.   :happy2:

I quite fancy a driving holiday around Europe this year and dont want to get half way there and my dv fail and ruin the holiday.  I felt like i was just waiting for it to fail, for example wondering if that was wheel spin or a loss of boost etc.

Anyway, anyone elses car make a whoosh sound when you ease off or change gear??

....It's a preventative measure - If the stock DV fails and you don't replace it fairly promptly I understand (though stand to be corrected) that it could cause damage to the rather more expensive turbo. Don't ask me how cos I don't know.

It's more likely to happen on a remapped car because of the increased boost levels.

Although VW dealers in most of Europe will be good, it's peace of mind if you are going on a long journey abroad.

I did mine purely as preventative maintenance and because my turbo charge and discharge pipes were being upgraded anyway. I've got the Forge DV and they've recently updated mine FOC.

No, my 05-plate 06-build K03 GTI has never made whooshy noises - Just some 'airy' breathing sounds mixed in with the Milltek.

well ive yet to install the revision g dv.. i know what your saying about earlier GTIs with lound dv noise, my friends was a 56 plate and didnt make nowhere near the same noise as mine does..

but anyway id rather have the new dv fitted and have the peace of mind of a brand new part that shouldnt fail as quickly (well hope it dont anyway)

joesgti:
i have the forge DV and it makes a nice noise, if you want the psshhht noise than go with the forge spacer, i thinks its about 40 - 50 quid and slots between the DV and the turbo
