Long Life Service

Picked my Mar '07 Ed30 up on Monday with 23k on the clock.

Service book shows service at 14,700 & LL oil.

Called the dealer, who checked VW UK data & he has confirmed the car is on LL service & it will shout when the next is needed.

Could you chaps confirm when generally the next would come up & also can I check on the car when it may be due.

My A4 has a button & reading to confirm this.

Don't think there's a button but the display will definitely tell you when it needs servicing. Mine was on LL when I bought it (used) and about two months ago it came up with "service in 1000 miles or 21days" or something similar.

Can't remember the service intervals but someone else will tell you.

The car will tell you when it next wants a service, its dependent on how it has been driven.
It is recommended to take it off LL service and put it on T&D for turbo cars, but to still use the long life oil.
Its a expensive car and 14000 miles is a long way to go on the same oil no matter how good the quality of it is.  :smiley:

you can check the time to next service by putting key in ignition and pressing and holding down the trip button iirc

Yeah the instrument panel will tell you when it needs a service.

The Caddy vans at work typically need a service every 14k on the longlife schedule, thats a mix of town use, and ragging it, I believe.

My car was changed to time & distance before I got it, thank god!  I once saw a thread where a guy stripped down 2 engines, 1 serviced every 3000 miles, one serviced every 10000 miles.  The 3k interval engine was mint, but the 10k engine had a lot of scoring and wearing from the particles in the oil.  From that day on I realised the importance of regular oil changes.  No car should run oil for more than a year, manufacturers want their engines to blow up, I swear!

Mines in for its 2nd service next Sat and will be getting the T+D oil change :innocent: Don't want her getting Abused  :love: So the Map will be turned of and switch hidden :driver:

Check service remaining - in car, door shut, ignition on and then press and hold the trip reset, the trip will zero but if you continue to hold the service info appears and then your trip comes back too!

I agree there pitch, everydays a school day on here! booked my beast in for a service, air filter change, pollen filter change and brake fluid change today. getting her switched to T&D too  :happy2:

Make sure they still use the LL oil. I seem to remember thats all they stock now but just check to be sure.  :wink:
