Digging up an old thread here but I just had my car serviced today and they replaced my coil packs as part of this recall at the same time - The recall campaign number is 28F5 and my car is also on a 55 plate. Interesting recall this as I have been experiencing some ignition problems with may car over the past year that have become increasingly worse, particularly warm starting, for example, a couple of weeks ago it took me about 10 goes to start the car in Waitrose car park after nipping in for a bottle of wine. Not good. I have also had the exhaust system warning light appearing on the dash intermittently which has so far been unexplained by VW despite a few visits to the dealer and subsequent software updates. According to my dealer all of this is consistent with the problems they have been seeing with the coil packs as fitted to my car and this is the reason for the recall.

have they looked at the diverter valve?  mine was split causing exhaust system warning light to light intermitantly

It's not the DV, I had a Forge one on the car but took it off last year when it was due a clean up and fitted the VW Revision D version instead (less maintenance). Anyway, it's definitely not that!

Car seems a lot better now the new coil packs are fitted, seems smoother and fuel economy is much improved. Hmm.

Mines now improved by 3-4 mpg with a new DV installed. Split diaphrams are no good for economy

Just thought i'd add to this as my Golf was in today at Vw for the recall for 4 new coil packs too.

It was only two weeks ago one of the coil packs failed too!!!! Just goes to show a much needed recall, well for me anyway. It was thanks to this thread I became aware of the recall and contacted VW. Happy days.  :happy2:
