i heard that the best thing to do after you have had your day ruined on JKms rollers is to nip up to AMDs rollers.

Was it cupraK1 who did that at one of the RR days(might have been surrey) when his 360Hp(AMD rollers) stage 2 cupra failed to get those figures on the DD rollers.   :grin:

So only 13 bhp between a Stage 2+ S3 and a Stage 2 TTRS...???  :confused:

And -7 bhp and - 43ftlb torque from a stage 2 TTrs compared to a stage 1 TTrs :rolleye:

AMD's rollers are a joke! 2 of my friends what have been there for a map all with the same cars had stupidly high figures, they paid for there so called "custom map" but just found out after having it plugged in at another tuners  turned out to be a revo map! Not saying revo isnt good cause it is but why lie.....? After playing around with the revo settings was like a totally different car! :driver: When challenged about the so called "custom map" they said that they thought it would be better to put the revo map on. More like they cant do custom maps!

Whether I'm right or wrong about AmD, I'm surprised to read the put-down of AmD in this thread. I say so because my own judgement of Saun, who is boss of AmD, totally contradicts such chicanery. All I can say at the moment is that I'm very surprised.

So was i Robin as AMD have got a very good reputation and so has Saun,  but i dont understand why they would do something like that twice! They must know there stuff as they have a car in the BTCC!

Perhaps that's why their btcc car is always at the back on the pack , their 300bhp car, is actually only 150bhp on a more accurate set of rollers :signLOL:

probably not to far off of the truth.  they have said at every race that they are underpowered compared to the others

That made me chuckle!

FWIW.... the only experience i have with AMDs rollers are on my old MK5 1.9TDI (105PS). I ran a stage 1 custom code map and it ran at 169bhp according to there RR!! Which is either very good or very optimistic!

Dimpsort rolling roads come in two forms asorber braked and inertia. The brake type rolling roads are the correct units for producing live remap and running high power forced induction cars.

 The inertia version just has a steel mass weight where the asorber brake should be.  This setup is only good for power runs and basic datalogging as it cannot but the car under load at the top end.

To get a a power graph the inertia rolling road software works out how fast the car accelerates the mass of the rollers and weight.  This method is more accurate than all other methods as it use basic mathmatics.  The problem is tyre slip and op error, dimsport use small smooth 9" rollers and the strapping of the car is only sideways, so when the car come on full boost the contact of the tyre becomes light on the rear roller which causes the maths of the inertia law read higher.  The reason stock cars make the correct power is that the power deliver is more linear and the  wheels dont tend to climb out of the rollers.   I am sure if dimsport op could get straps over the bottom arm they would read real world power on high bhp cars, but by having the car strapped with just side straps the higher power turbo car are going to wheel spin and run light on the back rollers.

I use a rolling road with huge 12" smooth rollers, it has an eddy current brake  and can also do inertial power runs. just by using side strap it will runs a stage 1 ed30 fine up to around 270bhp but if we run stage 2 we tend to see slip and the car pulling light on the rear roller which causes higher reading.  To get around this we have to put straps over the bottom arm and pull the car down.  The only reason we can strap over the bottom are is becuase our dyno id 2 foot above ground a simlar setup to JKMs dyno.

no one makes good figures on DD rollers though, especially JKM.

CupraK1s car has made up to 379bhp on rollers that didnt belong to AMD, and around 360hp on other dynos aswell.

I had my stage 2+ done at AMD today pulled 334bhp thats stock intake, so if AMD rollers give out higher figures am i supposed to be worried now!

Im not!

But id say my figures are more "real" to what is expected form the mods i have? TB Miltek,HPFP, stock intake,stock intercooler...so with intake id see better side of 350bhp!?

thats why all the willy wavers dont like DD rollers.  doesnt make sense to me. better to say you have less(or more accurately) then its even worse for the car you beat.


there are quite a few cars on here that have made very good figures o DD rollers.  Gazbut abnd PDT to name a few.

Evey rolling road day I have carried out has been about the fun the banta and meeting up with keyboard mates. Rolling road days get spoiled when its about having the most power. If a car makes -20bhp then the dyno and OP gets blamed and takes a slating.

The only time a rolling road is good is when you use the same dyno to monitor you tuning power gains vs your stock graphs.

Apart from that its a "lottery" and should be just a bit of fun hearing your pride and joy banging of the rev limiter, and if your lucky you will get nice pop bang and a flame.

Two year back we tested all the dynos in our local area using our 210bhp mk4 Gti, and the results ranged from 195bhp upto 225bhp over four dynos, we found the biggest variation to be the transmission losses.
