change of front?
« on: December 08, 2010, 01:40:15 pm »
i,m thinking of changing the front grill of the car..... i already have the osir front grill/fog light covers and splitter-which i,m keeping!!
and i reaaaaly want the osir front grill peice like neil had but they are a lot of dosh ,prob too much for me for the next 7-9 months
so was thinking of the grill top and bottom like dis.......

but i,m wondering if i,m losing the whole GTI personna if i do?
anyone wanna pitch in their thoughts?
.......................runs and hides lol :jumping:

.
I think that the example of the black Mk5 you show is excellent. I don't much like it when folks mix the slatted grills with the honeycombe ones.

The only consideration then becomes that your GTI no longer looks like a GTI and if you put a GTI badge on it looks like a Golf pretending to be a GTI.

I do think that Neil's solution is a much better one but it is a much more expensive one.

Do what YOU want to do Matsu!!   And its only grilles, they can be swapped around very easily so you can chop and change as much as you want!!

I have a pre facelift GT TDI and changed the front to the new GT SPORT (like your first photo shows) but I did for a while (much to Robins disgust!!!  :signLOL: ) run with the main GT grille and the lower 3 GTI grilles AKA the Golf Speed Edition below

AFAIK it was a limited edition only in Germany but I might be talking rubbish!!  :rolleye:

Matsu go for it mate,  The US boys love it I sold my original GT grilles to a guy in the US for his GTI and its all the rage over there,

I was running with GTI grilles but wanted to get away from the GTI theme has I only have the GTtdi so went down the GT sport grilles.

As below
