Noisy heater fan.
« on: December 14, 2010, 09:19:57 pm »
My interior fan makes constant rattle and nocking noise. Its not loud, but it annoys me. Has anyone changed the fan motor. Is it a big job or should i just turn the radio up.

Its behind the glovebox, taking the glovebox out is easy but I'm not convinced - as said - you could get it out without having to take the upper part of the dash out.  And even if you didn't have to take it out I reckon it would be a complete barstewards to do.

That was one of my first questions on here when I joined and a few people reassured me it was common and to just turn the radio up. I find it turns off when I put 'economy' on.

You can remove the fan without any tools! Its under a plastic foam cover in the passenger footwell. The fan its self just twists out a 1/4 of a turn. the hardest bit is manipulating it round the wiring loom that is there. I had to WD40 my fan up the other day as it had siezed up! lol.

the sound is coming from behind the controls, maybe its not the fan making the noise?

i believe the noise is the heater ducts adjusting themselves
