im not sure you need parking sensors for this option, as i thought it was standard on early Gti's ?

Correct my 05 plate GTI had this feature and didn't have parking sensors.

On my ED30 it came as part of the Lux Pack I believe.

Interesting as I have an 05 but don't have this.  But then I don't have the highline to activate it either....

All the hardware should already be there in any GTi... the wipers (and rear reversing lights!) are activated when reverse is selected so we have a sensor, it would just be a software tweak to get the mirrors to dip in reverse surely?

Hmm mine does not do it either, nor does the hire car either.  They both have parking sensors but no Highline.  Does the switch mirror have to be moved over to the left mirror or should it do it anyway?

Would be nice and useful to have that ability.

On a pre MY2007 car, even if you have the lux pack, reversing sensors and highline MFD, you can't enable this function via software.

Set the interior mirror switch to L then reverse the car. If present, the passenger mirror should tilt downwards.

i've been looking into it a bit more and it seems its goin to be a tough one. Probably just easier to do it manually

Seems to be really hit and miss on what cars have this feature.  My 05 has parking sensors I think it has the lux pack as well but no mirror function.

Would be nice to have as well, saves me having to do it manually when I want to avoid the kerb.

i think the thing that is imperative to this feature working is memory seats. the car needs a memory of where the mirror was before it moves, so it knows where to put it back.
